Marriott 360° AR Experience

In 2019 I worked with Marriott to create an augmented reality experience for a conference they were hosting. The goal was a mobile-friendly site where users could view 360° panoramic photos of various hotel rooms — photos that could then be viewed through a VR headset such as Google Cardboard or Oculus.

I built the front-end in React and hosted it on Zeit so I could scale up quickly — at peak there were up to 1,000 active users in the VR experience at the same time. I implemented some backend work with Firebase, plus Google Analytics tracking. The WebVR technology is built on A-Frame, an open-source, cross-platform web VR framework.

The site was initially built for Courtyard only, but after its success I was asked to build out separate environments for SpringHill Suites, Four Points, and Fairfield.
